Choosing Princeton University required a significant amount of soul searching and guidance from the people I trusted most. Senior year I helped lead my team to an Ivy League Championship and the second round of the NCAA tournament. Not long after that I was drafted by Chicago for the inaugural 2013 NWSL season and received my first call up to the U-23 National Team.
The college application process is stressful. There are things I wish I had known while going through the recruiting process - doing enough research and knowing what questions to ask is key. Invest in your future and in choosing your home for the next four years. Think deeply about how you picture life after college so that you can make the best use of your time while you're there. You’re young and this is bound to change as you continue to experience life, but the more proactive you are the better. Choosing a college is about both academics and athletics. Ultimately it is your education that will prepare you most for life and long-term opportunities after college. Knowledge is power. Asking for help is a sign of strength. Take advantage of the many resources available to you, and don’t forget to have fun along the way. In partnering with ProfilePasser it is my hope to empower young student athletes by offering support, solutions and personal experience to help them make informed decisions and bring about the future they envision.
